Flattering Styles : The Best Styles For Plus Size Feet
We have all been there and experienced that feeling of someone stopping you and commenting on how big your feet are. I sometimes think that they must have had a brain fart moment to tell me, like I hadn't realised before - "Oh really, wow I didn't realise that!". Most times I just laugh and reply with "Yup a firm grip on the ground and head in the clouds". Being 6 foot, I might as well tackle all of the obvious issues for them right? My height and shoe size!
So when we were recently asked to help Pretty Big Shoes blogger Janine on a topic of "shoe designs that flatter large feet" I jumped at the chance. Finding ladies plus size shoes has become so much easier then it was 20 years ago when I was growing up with some great stores online, so we can now be a little picky when it comes to styles to help flatter our feet instead of making them look even bigger than what they are. Here are the tricks and tips that I have come across from working in retail and fitting hundreds of feet over the years.
Paradise Tan Sizes 6-13
1. Wider Straps For Wide Feet
Is it just me or do dainty straps on a long foot look anything but dainty at times? I always recommend a wider strap that is going to hold the foot in and give it a big hug. Try and find a style that covers your knuckles or bunions. A great style for this for summer would be Filipa from our Bueno range. If you are after a more closed in option, something that hugs your foot like our paradise slide is great.

2. Choosing The Right Colour
A trick that has worked well over the years has been colour choice. Choosing a colour tone that matches your natural skin colour can help as well. For those with lighter skin tones, a nude or cameo/soft pink colour would be ideal, for those with a darker complexion why not try your tan or darker tones. The flip side of this is that by owning a pair of sandals or heels with the same tone as your complexion will be a versatile style for anyones wardrobe.

3. Avoid Ankle Straps
If you find that your ankles are your pain point and like to steer the eye away, try to avoid straps around the ankle. If you like the comfort of an ankle strap, then try something thin or neutral to your skin complexion. Some other styles that I find work best are slingback's, slides or for a closed in option try something that has a larger opening around the ankle like Martini, Maggie or Carla.

4. Give It A Lift
Another trick to minimise the length of your foot can be to add some height. A heel or a wedge can be great, even if it's just 2cm, however for those ladies that are not a fan of this style, why not try a wedge sneaker like Mintie. This style generally has the wedge built in so no one will ever notice but it will give your legs that added length and shorten the appearance of your foot (plus it doesn't hurt that it gives your booty a lift as well).
